On the morning of 07 December 2025, H.E. Cham Nimmol, Minister of Commerce, graciously presided over the official inauguration of the Sewing for Hope project located in 4 Village , Songkat Chrang Chamres I, khan Russey Keo , Phnom Penh.

This project was established with the aim of empowering Cambodian Muslim women who are facing livelihood challenges, especially housewives and widows by providing them with clear and practical sewing skills that will enable them to earn an income and support their families independently. Currently, more than 35 women are receiving training through this 12-month course, which includes both hard skills and soft skills.

The project is generously supported by the HASENE international e.V and implemented by the Cambodian Islamic Women Development Association (CIWODA) in collaboration with the Cambodian Muslim Development Foundation (CMDF).

CIWODA strongly believes that through this initiative, all participating Muslim women will gain clear and sustainable skills that will help them improve their livelihoods, especially as Cambodia’s garment and sewing sector continues to grow rapidly year by year. Lately, the sector’s exports reached USD 14 billion since 2024, significantly contributing to national economic growth and poverty reduction in the country.
